Creating a Digital Insurance Ad

How to Create a Digital Ad for an Insurance Company

Open a new document in Photoshop. I made mine 600x600px, 72dpi.

Now find an image of a house silhouette. You can use Google for this.

Place this in your Photoshop document.

Create a new layer, then use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to create selection as on my picture below:

Press D button to set up foreground and background colors as black and white. After that use the Gradient Tool to fill selection with black to white gradient.

Then apply Filter > Render > Difference Clouds:

Remove selection with Command D and invert colors by using Image > Adjustments > Invert:

Then apply Image > Adjustments > Levels to change brightness and contrast for the future lightning.

Now change the color of the lightening. We can do this by using Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

Now use your magic wand tool and select the black around the lightening bolt. There are several ways you can select the black, this is just my method.

Press Delete. Be sure the lightening bolt is in front of the house layer.

Now add a lighting effect. Go to Filter > Render > Lens Flare

Use the following settings:

Fill the background layer with grey. Go to Filter > Render > Clouds.
Now use the Type tool to add your text.
Use the following blending options on your type:

I then added in the Insurance logo to fit inside the house.
